Massive Wide-Area Internet of Things: Some Design and Performance Aspects
Piyush Gupta (Qualcomm)
Abstract:
5G cellular wireless networks are expected to support various traffic and service types, ranging from extreme bandwidth for high data throughput, applications that require very low latency and high reliability, to massive number of internet of things (IoT) capable of directly linking to the wide area network (WAN) in low-power mode. The WAN IoT devices could enable broad range of new applications and services, including smart cities, agricultural and environmental sensing, asset tracking, among others. This talk will discuss some key design and performance aspects arising in supporting massive number of WAN IoT devices with stringent energy constraints.
